WARNINGS AND IMPORTANT ADVICE
It is extremely important that the instruction booklet belonging to the appliance is kept. Should the appliance be given to someone else or sold, or should the appliance be left behind in the house from which you are moving, the new user must be able to consult the instruction booklet and the warnings contained therein. If this appliance is to be installed in place of an old model with a hook or spring closure, it is advisable to make the closure of the old appliance, which is set aside, unusable. This will prevent playing children from locking themselves in, which is life-threatening. These warnings are intended for your safety and that of others. You are expected to have read them before installing and/or using the appliance. General Safety • This appliance is not intended for use by children, persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of knowledge and experience, unless supervised by a person responsible for their safety or unless they have received instructions from that person on how to use it. • Do not leave children unsupervised in the vicinity of the appliance. • It is dangerous to alter the appliance or its features in any way. • Always unplug the appliance before starting maintenance or cleaning work. • This appliance is heavy. Be careful when lifting. • Consuming ice lollies and the like directly from a freezer compartment, frozen section or freezer can cause burns to the mouth lining; • Be very careful when moving the appliance so that the parts of the cooling circuit are not damaged in such a way that the coolant could leak out; • Do not place the appliance near a central heating system or a gas cooker. • Avoid a location with direct sunlight. • Ensure that there is sufficient air circulation at the back of the appliance. Avoid damage to the cooling circuit. • Only for freezers (except built-in models): the appliance can be placed very well in the cellar. • Never place electrical appliances (e.g. ice machines) inside the appliance. Maintenance / Repair • Any modification to the electrical home installation required for the installation of this appliance must be carried out exclusively by an authorized person. • Have inspection and/or repair work carried out by an authorized service centre and do not have original spare parts fitted. • In case of malfunction or defect, do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself. Repairs carried out by non-expert persons can lead to damage or a more serious malfunction. Consult your local service centre and always ask for original spare parts. • This appliance contains hydrocarbons in the cooling circuit; maintenance and refilling must therefore only be carried out by expert personnel. Use • Household refrigerators and freezers are intended exclusively for the storage and/or freezing of edible or drinkable products. • The best results are achieved at ambient temperatures between +18°C and +43°C (class T); between +18°C and 38°C (class ST); between +16°C and 32°C (class N); +10°C and 32°C (class SN); the class is stated on the type plate. • Attention: you must not only consider the ambient temperature for this type of product, but also the following instructions: when the ambient temperature drops below the indicated minimum value, the storage temperature in the freezer compartment can no longer be guaranteed; it is therefore best to consume the stored food as soon as possible. • Thawed frozen products must not be refrozen. • Follow the manufacturer's recommendations regarding where and how to store or freeze food and drinks. • The freezing inner walls or surfaces in the appliance contain refrigerant. Do not place sharp objects against such a wall or surface. Leakage may result, causing irreparable damage to the appliance and spoilage of the food. • DO NOT SCRAPE OFF FROST OR ICE WITH SHARP OBJECTS. Frost can be removed with a plastic spatula. Do not forcibly remove ice. Ice will only be removed when defrosting the appliance. • Do not place carbonated or fizzy drinks in the freezer compartment, frozen section or freezer, as the cans or bottles may become pressurized; they may explode, damaging the appliance. Do not use other mechanical devices or artificial means to speed up the defrosting process than those recommended by the manufacturer. Do not use metal objects to clean your appliance, as this may damage it. Installation • During normal operation, the condenser and compressor at the back of the appliance become quite warm. For safety reasons, a minimum of ventilation must be provided, as indicated in the instructions. • Note: Ensure that the ventilation openings are not covered. • Be careful not to stand the appliance on the power cord. • Important: If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced with the cord, possibly with plugs, these parts are available from the manufacturer or our service department. • If the appliance is transported horizontally, oil from the compressor may flow into the cooling circuit. After placing the appliance, wait at least two hours before plugging it into the socket, so that the oil can flow back to the compressor. • There are working parts that get hot. Always ensure adequate ventilation, otherwise parts may fail and the contents of the freezer may be lost. See installation instructions. • Parts that get hot must not be accessible. Place the appliance against a wall wherever possible. Environmental Protection • This appliance does not contain ozone-depleting substances in its cooling circuit or insulation. • The appliance must not be disposed of with household waste or scrap. Avoid damaging the cooling circuit, especially at the rear near the heat exchanger. You can inquire about disposal sites at your local municipality.
