THE APPLIANCE FOR FIRST USE
Connect the appliance to the mains power supply. For models with electronics, a beep may be heard, indicating that the temperature alarm is activated: press the button to silence the alarm. Attach the antibacterial filter for unpleasant odours to the fan, as indicated in the filter packaging. Note: After switching on the appliance, wait 4-5 hours for the correct storage temperature to be reached for a normally filled appliance. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING OF THE APPLIANCE Clean the appliance regularly with a cloth using a solution of lukewarm water and a neutral detergent suitable for cleaning the inside of a refrigerator. Do not use abrasive cleaners. To ensure constant and correct drainage of the defrost water, clean the inside of the drain in the rear wall of the refrigerator compartment, near the vegetable and fruit drawer, using the tool supplied (see illustration). Unplug the appliance or disconnect the power supply before starting any cleaning or maintenance work. REPLACING THE BULB OR LED (depending on the model) First, unplug the appliance before replacing the bulb. Then follow the instructions based on the type of bulb for your product. Replace the bulb with a new bulb of the same specifications, available from the Technical Service Centre and authorised retailers. Bulb type 1) Unscrew the bulb counterclockwise to remove it, as shown in the illustration. Wait 5 minutes before reconnecting the appliance.
- traditional bulb (max. 25 W) or
- LED bulb (with the same specifications) only available from the Technical Service Centre Bulb type 2) If the product is equipped with LED bulbs, as shown in the illustrations below, please contact the Technical Service Centre if replacement is necessary. LED bulbs last longer than traditional bulbs, improve visibility inside the appliance and are environmentally friendly. WHEN NOT IN USE Disconnect the appliance from the mains power supply and empty, defrost (if necessary) and clean the appliance. Leave the doors slightly ajar so that air can circulate in the compartments. This will prevent the development of mould and unpleasant odours. IN CASE OF POWER FAILURE Keep the doors closed to keep the food cool for as long as possible. Do not refreeze partially defrosted food. In the event of a prolonged power failure, the blackout alarm may be activated (on products with electronics). REFRIGERATOR COMPARTMENT Fresh food and drinks can be stored in the refrigerator compartment. The refrigerator compartment defrosts automatically. The presence of water droplets on the inner rear wall of the refrigerator compartment is a sign of the automatic defrost phase. The defrost water drains into a drain opening and then into a tray where it evaporates. The product may, depending on the model, be equipped with a special "Zero degrees" compartment, which is ideal for storing fresh meat and fish. Warning: do not clean refrigerator accessories in a dishwasher. Note: the ambient temperature, how often the door is opened, and the appliance's location can affect the temperatures in the two compartments. Adjust the temperature according to these factors. Note: if there is a lot of moisture in the refrigerator compartment, condensation may form, especially on the glass shelves. In this case, it is advisable to cover liquids in open containers (e.g. a bouillon pan), wrap food with high water content (e.g. vegetables) in foil, and switch on the fan (if equipped). Removing the vegetable and fruit drawer (depending on the model) Pull the drawer out as far as possible, lift it up and remove it from the refrigerator compartment. To make it easier to remove the vegetable and fruit drawer, you can first empty (and if possible remove) the two lower door compartments. Fan and antibacterial filter for unpleasant odours (depending on the model) The fan ensures uniform temperature distribution in the compartments, thus preserving food better and reducing humidity. Ensure that ventilation openings are not blocked. The fan can be switched on and off manually (see Quick Guide); when switched on, it operates automatically. FREEZER COMPARTMENT Model with separate freezer compartment The **** freezer compartment can be used to store frozen food (for the period indicated on the packaging) and to freeze fresh food. The amount of fresh food that can be frozen in 24 hours is indicated on the rating plate. Arrange the fresh food in the freezer compartment (see Quick Guide) and ensure sufficient space around each package for air circulation. It is advisable not to refreeze partially defrosted food. It is important to package food in such a way as to prevent water, moisture or condensation from entering. Making ice cubes Fill the ice cube tray 2/3 full with water and place it in the freezer compartment. Never use pointed or sharp objects to remove ice. Removing the drawers (depending on the model) Pull the drawers out as far as possible, lift them up and remove them. For more storage capacity, the freezer compartment can be used without the drawers. Ensure the door is closed properly after placing the food on the racks/shelves. Models with an internal product compartment In the **** freezer compartment, you can also freeze fresh food. The amount of fresh food that can be frozen in 24 hours is indicated on the rating plate. Freezing fresh food: • arrange the food directly on the bottom of the compartment (illustration 1 and 2) • place the food in the middle of the **** compartment, without it coming into contact with already frozen food, and maintain a distance of approximately 20 mm (illustration 1 and 2). DEFROSTING THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT (depending on the model) For frost-free models, no defrosting procedures are necessary. For other models, ice formation is normal. The amount and speed of ice formation vary depending on ambient conditions and how often the door is opened. It is recommended to lower the temperature four hours before removing the food from the freezer compartment or to activate the Quick Freeze function (see Quick Guide), if available, to extend the preservation of the food during the defrosting phase. To defrost the compartment, switch off the appliance and remove the drawers. Place the frozen food in a cool place. Leave the door open to allow the ice to melt. To prevent water from running out during defrosting, it is advisable to place an absorbent cloth at the bottom of the freezer compartment and wring it out regularly. Clean the inside of the freezer compartment and dry thoroughly. Switch the appliance back on and replace the food. STOP FROST SYSTEM (depending on the model) The STOP FROST SYSTEM (available depending on the model) simplifies the defrosting procedure for the freezer compartment. The STOP FROST accessory (illustration 1) is designed to collect some of the ice that forms in the freezer compartment and can be easily removed and cleaned. This reduces the time required to defrost the inside of the freezer compartment. To remove ice from the STOP FROST accessory, follow the cleaning procedure below. PROCEDURE FOR CLEANING THE STOP FROST ACCESSORY
- Open the door of the freezer compartment. Remove the STOP FROST accessory (illustration 2) and carefully remove the accessory (illustration 3). Note: if the accessory is stuck or difficult to remove, do not force it, but proceed with fully defrosting the freezer compartment. Close the door of the freezer compartment.
- Remove the ice from the accessory by rinsing it under running (not hot) water (illustration 4).
- Allow the accessory to drip dry and dry the plastic parts with a soft cloth (illustration 5). Reattach the accessory by placing the rear part onto the protruding parts (shown in illustration 6-A) and then fastening the accessory's clips to the bushes on the side (illustration 6-B). Close the door of the freezer compartment. The STOP FROST accessory can be cleaned separately without defrosting the entire freezer compartment. Regularly cleaning the STOP FROST accessory means the freezer compartment needs to be defrosted less often. Note: product specifications, volume and energy are calculated without the STOP FROST accessory. "ZERO DEGREES" COMPARTMENT (depending on the model) The "Zero degrees" compartment is specifically designed to maintain a low temperature and correct humidity to keep fresh food for longer (e.g. meat, fish, fruit and winter vegetables). Water-repellent technology, combined with ActivO", ensures the best preservation of food when it is not fully packaged. Switching the compartment on and off To switch the compartment on, press the button shown in the illustration for longer than 1 second until the symbol lights up. When the symbol is lit, it means the compartment is active. Press the button again for longer than 1 second to switch the compartment off. To completely switch off the compartment, you must remove the drawer. For correct operation of the "Zero degrees" compartment, the following conditions must be met:
- the refrigerator compartment must be switched on
- the temperature must be between +2 °C and +4 °C
- the drawer must be fitted in the "Zero degrees" compartment to enable it to be switched on
- none of the following special functions must be selected: stand-by, cooling off, holiday (if available); remove the food from here in that case. Note: if, when switching on the "Zero degrees" compartment, you check that the drawer is correctly positioned. If the control is incorrect, the Technical Service Centre if the compartment is switched on and the drawer is open, the symbol on the control panel may automatically go out. The symbol will light up again when the drawer is reinstalled.
- the status of the compartment is monitored, a slight noise may be heard. This is normal. if the "Zero degrees" compartment is not in operation and the temperature in the compartment differs from the general temperature of the refrigerator compartment. In this case, it is advisable to store foods and vegetables that are not sensitive to cold (berries, apples, apricots, carrots, spinach, lettuce, etc.) here. Important: if the compartment is switched on and there is food with high water content, condensation may form on the shelves. Temporarily switch off the function. Be careful when placing small food items and containers on the top shelves of the "Zero degrees" compartment. Prevent them from accidentally falling between the shelves and the rear wall of the refrigerator compartment. Removing the "Zero degrees" compartment: Follow these steps:
- to remove the compartment, we recommend emptying (and if possible removing) the lower door compartments
- switch off the compartment
- remove the compartment by rotating it upwards
- remove the white plastic plate under the compartment Note: it is not possible to remove the top plate and side supports. To reuse the "Zero degrees" compartment, carefully replace the white plastic plate under the compartment before refitting the drawer and switching the function back on. For higher storage capacity and lower energy consumption, it is recommended to switch off the "Zero degrees" compartment and remove it. Regularly clean the compartment and its components with a cloth using a solution of lukewarm water (ensure the white plastic plate under the drawer is not submerged) and a neutral detergent suitable for cleaning the inside of the refrigerator. Do not use abrasive cleaners. Before cleaning the compartment (including the exterior), the drawer must be removed to disconnect the power supply to the compartment.
