BRVN-123 - Usage instructions

This article explains how to use the BRVN-123 by Boretti.

USING THE APPLIANCE FOR THE FIRST TIME

Connect the appliance to the mains power supply. On models with electronics, an audible signal may sound, indicating that the temperature alarm has been activated: press the button to silence the alarm. Attach the antibacterial filter against unpleasant odours to the fan, as indicated in the filter packaging. Note: After switching on the appliance, wait 4-5 hours for the correct storage temperature to be reached for a normally filled appliance. WHEN NOT IN USE Disconnect the appliance from the mains electricity and empty, defrost (if necessary) and clean the appliance. Leave the doors slightly ajar so that air can circulate inside the compartments. This will prevent the development of mould and unpleasant odours. IN CASE OF POWER FAILURE Keep the doors closed to keep food cool for as long as possible. Do not refreeze partially thawed food. In the event of a prolonged power failure, the blackout alarm may be activated (on products with electronics). REFRIGERATOR COMPARTMENT Fresh food and drinks can be stored in the refrigerator compartment. The refrigerator compartment defrosts automatically. The presence of water droplets on the inner rear wall of the refrigerator compartment indicates the automatic defrost phase. The defrost water runs into a drain opening and then into a tray where it evaporates. Depending on the model, the product may be equipped with a special "Zero degrees" compartment, which is ideal for storing fresh meat and fish.

⚠ Warning: do not clean the refrigerator accessories in a dishwasher. Note: ambient temperature, frequency of door opening and appliance location can affect the temperatures in the two compartments. Adjust the temperature according to these factors. Note: if there is a lot of moisture in the refrigerator compartment, condensation may form, especially on the glass shelves. In this case, it is advisable to cover liquids in open containers (e.g. a pot of broth), wrap food with high water content (e.g. vegetables) in foil and switch on the fan (if equipped). Removing the vegetable and fruit drawer (depending on the model) Pull the drawer out as far as possible, lift it and remove it from the refrigerator compartment. To make it easier to remove the vegetable and fruit drawer, you can first empty (and if possible remove) the two lower door compartments. Fan and antibacterial filter against unpleasant odours (depending on the model) The fan ensures uniform temperature distribution in the compartments, thus preserving food better and reducing humidity. Ensure that ventilation openings are not blocked. The fan can be switched on and off manually (see Brief Manual); when switched on, it operates automatically. FREEZER COMPARTMENT Model with separate freezer compartment In the **** freezer compartment, frozen food can be stored (for the period indicated on the packaging) and fresh food can be frozen. The amount of fresh food that can be frozen in 24 hours is indicated on the rating plate. Arrange the fresh food in the freezer compartment (see Brief Manual) and ensure sufficient space around each package for air circulation. It is advisable not to refreeze partially thawed food. It is important to package food in such a way as to prevent water, moisture or condensation from entering. Making ice cubes Fill the ice tray 2/3 full with water and place it in the freezer compartment. Never use pointed or sharp objects to remove ice. Removing the drawers (depending on the model) Pull the drawers out as far as possible, lift them and remove them. For more storage capacity, the freezer compartment can be used without the drawers. Ensure the door is closed properly after placing food on the racks/shelves. Models with an internal product compartment In the **** freezer compartment, you can also freeze fresh food. The amount of fresh food that can be frozen in 24 hours is indicated on the rating plate. Freezing fresh food: • arrange the food directly on the bottom of the compartment (illustration 1 and 2) • place the food in the middle of the **** compartment, without it coming into contact with already frozen food, maintaining a distance of approximately 20 mm (illustration 1 and 2). DEFROSTING THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT (depending on the model) For frost-free models, no defrosting procedures are necessary. For other models, ice formation is normal. The amount and speed of ice formation vary depending on ambient conditions and how often the door is opened. It is advisable, four hours before removing food from the freezer compartment, to set the temperature lower or to activate the Quick Freeze function (see Brief Manual), if available, to extend the preservation of the food during the defrosting phase. To defrost the compartment, switch off the appliance and remove the drawers. Place the frozen food in a cool place. Leave the door open to allow the ice to melt. To prevent water from running out during defrosting, it is advisable to place an absorbent cloth at the bottom of the freezer compartment and wring it out regularly. Clean the inside of the freezer compartment and dry thoroughly. Switch the appliance back on and replace the food. "ZERO DEGREES" COMPARTMENT (depending on the model) The "Zero degrees" compartment is specifically designed to maintain a low temperature and correct humidity to preserve fresh food for longer (e.g. meat, fish, fruit and winter vegetables). Moisture-repellent technology, combined with Activo", ensures the best preservation of food when it is not fully packaged. Switching the compartment on and off To switch the compartment on, press the button shown in the illustration for longer than 1 second until the symbol lights up. When the symbol is lit, it means the compartment is on. To switch the compartment off, press the button for longer than 1 second. To completely switch off the compartment, remove the drawer. For the "Zero degrees" compartment to function correctly, the following conditions must be met:

  • the refrigerator compartment must be switched on
  • the temperature must be between +2 °C and +4 °C
  • the drawer must be fitted in the "Zero degrees" compartment for it to be switched on
  • none of the following special functions must be selected: stand-by, cooling off, holiday (if present); in this case, remove the food from here. Note: if the symbol lights up when the "Zero degrees" compartment is switched on, check that the drawer is correctly inserted. If the control is activated, the symbol on the control panel will automatically go out when the drawer is opened. The symbol will light up again when the drawer is reinserted.
  • Note: the status of the compartment may produce a very audible sound. This is normal.
  • if the "Zero degrees" compartment is not in operation, the temperature in the compartment depends on the general temperature of the refrigerator compartment. In this case, it is advisable to store fresh fruit and vegetables that are not sensitive to cold (berries, apricots, carrots, spinach, lettuce, etc.) here. Important: if the compartment is switched on and there is food with high water content, condensation may form on the shelves. In this case, switch on the "Zero degrees" function and store the food as described above. Be careful when placing small food items and containers on the top shelves of the "Zero degrees" compartment. Prevent them from accidentally falling between the shelves and the rear wall of the refrigerator compartment. Removing the "Zero degrees" compartment: Follow these steps:
  • to remove the compartment, we recommend emptying (and if possible removing) the lower door compartments
  • switch off the compartment
  • remove the compartment by tilting it upwards remove the white plastic plate from under the compartment Note: it is not possible to remove the top plate and side supports. To reuse the "Zero degrees" compartment, carefully replace the white plastic plate under the compartment before reinserting the drawer and switching the function back on. For greater storage capacity and lower energy consumption, it is recommended to switch off the "Zero degrees" compartment and remove it. Regularly clean the compartment and its components with a cloth using a solution of lukewarm water (ensure the white plastic plate under the drawer is not submerged) and a neutral detergent suitable for cleaning the inside of the refrigerator. Do not use abrasive detergents. Before cleaning the compartment (including the exterior), the drawer must be removed to disconnect the power supply to the compartment.
