  • Updated

This article covers maintenance and cleaning of the BKVD-179 BRD-103 by Boretti.

• Disconnect the appliance from the power supply be- fore cleaning. • Do not pour water over the appliance. • The refrigerator compart- ment should be cleaned periodically using a solution of bicarbonate of soda and lukewarm water. • Clean the accessories sepa- rately with soap and water. Do not put them in the dis- hwasher. • Do not use abrasive pro- ducts, detergents or soaps. After washing, rinse with clean water and dry careful- ly. When the cleaning opera- tions have been completed, reconnect the plug with dry hands. Defrosting Defrosting the Refrigerator Compartment • Defrosting occurs automatically in refrigera- tor compartment during operation; the de- frost water is collected by the evaporating tray and evaporates automatically. • The evaporating tray and the defrost water drain hole should be cleaned periodically with defrost drain plug to prevent the water from collecting on the bottom of the refrigerator instead of flowing out. • You can also pour 1½ glass of the water to drain hole to clean inside.

⚠ WARNING: Never use sharp metal tools, unless recommended by manufacturer, for this ope- ration, as they can damage the refrigeration circuit. After a period of time, frost will build up in certain areas in the freezer compartment. The frost accumulated in the freezer compart- ment, should be removed periodically (use the plastic scraper if available). Complete defrosting will become necessary if the frost layer exceeds 3-5 mm to maintain the efficiency of the freezer. • The day before you defrost, set the ther- mostat dial to position "5" to freeze the foods completely. • During defrosting, frozen foods should be wrapped in several layers of paper and kept in a cool place. The inevitable rise in tem- perature will shorten their storage life. Re- member to use these foods within a relatively short period of time. • Set the thermostat knob to position "0" and switch off the appliance. • Leave the door open to accelerate defrost- ing. Remove the defrost water from the compartment. • This appliance is provided with a special drain system. 1 Pull out the bottom drawer A of the freezer compartment and put it on the floor aligning it to the cabinet front. 2 Pull out the drain pipe B placed on the back wall of the freezer compartment. Then place it in the groove on the front side of the floor of the appliance. 3 If there is still water on the freezer floor, you can clear it away by using a sponge. • Clean the interior by hand with lukewarm wa- ter and a little detergent. Never use abrasive products or aggressive cleaning agents. • Dry the inside of the unit, plug on the mains, and set the thermostat knob to position "5". After 24 hours, reset the thermostat to the desired position.
